Regular fit straight leg jeans made from denim with 50% pre-consumer recycled cotton and 50% organic cotton. These jeans have been treated a little differently than we normally do, they won't dry out or rinse off. What we have done is soak them in water and let them hang to dry. This results in a slightly fuzzy, wrinkled denim with a dry feel, and a more bluish, dull hue. The benefit of soaking is that it creates jeans with near-dry wear potential. While the indigo dye fades slightly on the white weft yarns, most of the surface bound indigo remains on the warp yarns. This creates the dullest, hairiest shade that is slightly more bluish. During soaking, the cotton absorbs water, causing the threads to swell and skew, increasing the unevenness of the surface structure. This results in jeans having slightly different aging properties than dry denim. Wearing will pronounce the irregularities that give the jeans a more textured aging property. Since the jeans are not rinsed and only allowed to absorb water, the starch stays in the denim. Starch is what causes denim to generate defined pleats, it is in these pleats that the most pronounced wear is shown.
